		<description>damien, i totally agree with you.  it is often an &quot;AND&quot; situation.  in the end, it helps to be really pragmatic about it:  if the &quot;nuttiness&quot; bugs you or the people around you, it&#039;s useful to find out why, and it&#039;s also useful to explore the possibility of treatment.  also, don&#039;t wait 10 years before you do :)

		<description>I like the general idea of this post but would like to add a caveat that mentally ill people have something broken that often needs medication to allow them to cope &quot;normally.&quot; Some &quot;nuttiness&quot; untreated is not something funny to be around.  Other than that, it is true there is no &quot;normal&quot; thought frontier if you get down to it AND the mentally ill have made enormous contributions to our culture as you have noted. Nice post.
