interesting question - interesting because the idea of NOT doing research on therapy never occurred to me!

i guess the most basic and most central research question is, does therapy work? (which has been answered with a resounding yes)

then the next questions are, how does it work, and are there some approaches that are better than others?

why are these questions needed? apart from the utilitarian answers (e.g. it's useful to have some research before lots of money is poured into something), the more philosophical answer might be - don't we all want to know more about what we're doing, and why and how we're doing it? and isn't research one (if not the only) good avenue for this investigation?

curious-- why is it important to do research on therapy? I am not saying it is not important, but since you have thought a bit on the difficulty of doing the research, I am wondering why you think it is needed????? If the research showed it could help some and it could harm some, then what? Would it be like a new drug being approved with side effects listed on the side? Like I said, I am curious as to what you think.
