However, I cannot see the G8 nations (and in that I do unfortunately include the general populace and not just politicians) "standing up" and wiping out 3rd world debt. Given the downturn in the economic outlook over the past 6 months, it is going to be far more difficult to get onto the social and political agenda. It is far easier to make grand gestures on debt in good times. When we are at the outset of the greatest recession for some time, I don't think we as individuals and nations are quite so generous. Firstly, let me say I totally agree with you.
