I know that the above is over three years ago, but I just need you to know how I relate to that joyful and miraculous experience in my life! All of my children are either "blended" or adopted and so I never had the blessing (?)of childbirth, though, I did have five miscarriages! To be at the birth of my first grandchild and then many of the subsequent "grands" was a fabulous gift ...I am so in awe of the feelings I experienced those days...I think the only thing that ever matched it was the day 39 years ago when I first held my five week old adopted daughter in my arms and realized the pure love I had for her!
What a gift from my five daughters! Inclusion and wonder!
So I had to offer late congratulations to you....and say thank you for sharing your precious story!

[...] so this is granny post #2 (granny post #1 is here). am i used to this granny role yet? i’m not sure. one of the changes i’ve noticed, though, is that as soon as my daughter moved out to live with her boyfriend, my attitude towards her changed. i’ve turned from loving-but-no-nonsense to loving-and-solicitous, from, “hey! pick up your socks!” to, “are you comfortable? can i get you some more tea?” [...]

Hey grandma! soon you'll be welcomed into that remarkable time in life, a wonderful aspect of the strength of family and love. All your life becomes a history that has such a value, to be passed along to someone who can live past your lifetime! (Simple things: how you hold a spoon, how you breathe, how your thoughts are patterned, the music of your tender baby-love-talk, how you create life around yourself and your family.) And because of your grandparent memories, they are also passed on to this newcoming grandchild. Not to mention that tremendous love-rush - like no other!

thanks for your comment!

no, i haven't listened to your show yet. don't do a lot of podcasts. but hey - i just had an idea - once in a while, instead of listening to CBC radio when i cook, i could listen to podcasts?

and no, i didn't get the cold/flu that a lot of people at the northern voice blogging conference got. haven't been real sick for a looong time (does the kidney infection in the summer count? naw, not really)
