there is such a variety of foods and drinks that we can get addicted to. some of them, like soda, contain ingredients like sugar and caffeine that encourage addiction in and of themselves. and then there are so many other things. i know someone who has to stay away from grapes, and someome else who goes crazy around rice crackers, of all things.

good for you for breaking the habit. and water tastes so much better, doesn't it?

What a great group of posts. Thanks for including mine. :)

The one about drinking soda (pop) really hit home - I drank diet soda exclusively for several years (no water, just soda) until I couldn't stand it anymore. I didn't like waking up in the morning feeling like I needed a 'fix' or feeling like soda controlled me rather than the vice versa. I tried several times to quit, several different ways (and went through the withdrawal he mentioned) and finally managed it. Now I don't touch the stuff.

On the bright side, after I'd been without soda for a few weeks, I lost the desire to drink it. At this point, I much prefer water.
